NSW. Paybook photograph of NX13042 Gunner Wilson Irving, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Irving, aged 33, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 26 May 1941. He was the son of John and Mary Irving, and the husband of Mavis Eileen Irving, of Lismore, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10.
