NSW. May 1940. Paybook photograph of NX14280 Private Walter George Allison, 2/4th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Allison, aged 29, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 28 May 1941. He was the son of Lucy Allison, and the husband of Lucy Esther Allison, of Armadale, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 11.
