Description

Qld. Paybook photograph of QX4636 Sergeant Charles Henry Perry, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Sergeant Perry, aged 33, died on 15 September 1943, as a Prisoner of War (POW), after being reported missing in action on 5 June 1941, while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion. It is claimed that Sergeant Perry was accidentally killed while a POW, but a statutory declaration on his personnel file says that he was murdered by a German guard. He was the son of Charles and Rose Perry and the husband of Joyce Perry, of Cabbramatta, NSW. He is buried in the Padua War Cemetery Section V, Row E, Plot 3.
