Qld. Paybook photograph of QX9663 Private Peter Joseph Tyler, Headquarters 1st Australian Postal Unit, Australian Army Postal Service. Private Tyler, aged 29, died on 30 May 1941, during the evacuation of Crete, after defending the island against the German land and airborne invasion. He was the son of Samuel Aloysius and Emily Tyler, and the husband of Irene Veronica Tyler, of Milton, Qld. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 12.
