Vic. Paybook photograph of VX616 Gunner Phillip Percival Nelson, 2/2nd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Nelson, aged 24, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 26 June 1941. He was the son of Phillip Benjamin and Margaret Annie Nelson, of Caulfield, Vic. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 5, Row B, Plot 2.
