Vic. Paybook photograph of VX756 Gunner Gilbert Alfred Davis, 2/2nd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Davis, aged 27, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 23 May 1941. He was the son of Alfred James Davis and Ruby Blanche Davis, of Northcote, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10. (Photograph supplied by the Army's Soldier Career Management Agency.
