Vic. Paybook photograph of VX865 Sergeant Archibald Tasman Fletcher, Headquarters Guard Battalion, Australian Infantry. Sergeant Fletcher, aged 40, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 1 June 1941. He was the son of Henry Edward and Alice Mary Fletcher and the husband of Emily Fletcher, of Surrey Hills, Vic. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 5, Row D, Plot 4.
