Vic. Paybook photograph of VX5687 Corporal Charles Russell Barker, 2/7th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Corporal Barker, aged 22, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 27 May 1941. He was the son of Charles Russell Barker and Julia Mary Barker, of Warrnambool, Vic. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 5, Row C, Plot 5.
