Vic. Paybook photograph of VX6051 Corporal William Allan Kirkpatrick, 2/8th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Corporal Kirkpatrick, aged 27, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 28 May 1941. He was the son of James and Catherine Isabelle Kirkpatrick, of Preston, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 12. (Photograph supplied by the Army's Soldier Career Management Agency.
