Vic. Paybook photograph of VX6462 Private George Herbert Blowers (Mentioned in Despatches), 2/8th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Blowers, aged 33, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 1 June 1941. He was the son of John and Katherine Eva Blowers, of Rutherglen, Vic.
