Vic. Paybook photograph of VX7124 Private James Norman Griffin, 2/1st Machine Gun Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Griffin, aged 22, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 20 May 1941. He was the son of William George and Esther Mary Griffin, of Culcairn, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row D, Plot 2.
