Vic. Paybook photograph of VX12566 Bombardier Douglas Allan Chalmers, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Bombardier Chalmers, aged 22, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 28 April 1941. He was the son of David Forsythe Maine Chalmers and Jessie Chalmers and the husband of Joan Eileen Chalmers, of South Yarra, Vic. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row B, Plot 4.
