Vic. Paybook photograph of VX15844 Private George Leo Russell, 2/7th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Russell, aged 36, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 27 May 1941. He was the son of Robert and Margaret Russell, of Colac, Vic.
