Vic. Paybook photograph of VX18521 Signalman Albert Edward Wells, 1st Corps of Signals, Australian Corps of Signals. Signalman Wells, aged 27, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 20 May 1941. He was the son of Captain Arthur George Wells OBE, DCM and Edith Wells, and the husband of Dilys Winifred Wells, of Woodleigh Vale, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 11.
