Vic. Paybook photograph of VX27781 Sapper Leslie Stuart David Neave, 2/8th Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers. Sapper Neave, aged 38, died on 8 August 1941, as a Prisoner of War (POW), after being reported missing in action while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion. He was confirmed as a POW on 16 June 1941. He was the son of David and Mary Anne Neave, of Wattle Hill, Vic. He is buried in the Phaleron War Cemetery Section 2, Row E, Plot 8.
