Vic. Paybook photograph of VX29827 Gunner Alexander Spence Baird, 3rd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Baird, aged 38, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 20 May 1941. He was the son of Alexander Fullerton Baird and Margaret Baird, and the husband of Lucy Ella Baird, of Auburn, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10.
