Vic. Paybook photograph of VX44522 Gunner Alexander Thomas Poole, 3rd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Poole, aged 30, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 28 May 1941. He was the son of Joseph Thomas Poole and Flora Poole, of Girgaree East, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10. (Photograph supplied by the Army's Soldier Career Management Agency.
