Vic. Paybook photograph of VX44655 Gunner Douglas Layton, 3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Layton, aged 26, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 24 May 1941. He was the son of Arthur and Elsie Layton, of Glen Iris, Vic.
