WA. Paybook photograph of WX97 Lance Bombardier Ronald Leslie Bethune, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Lance Bombardier Bethune, aged 25, died on 11 January 1944, as a Prisoner of War (POW), after being captured on 30 May 1941, while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion. He was the son of Ronald Leslie and Ellen Elizabeth Bethune, and the husband of Enid Margaret Bethune, of Mount Lawley, WA.
