WA. Paybook photograph of WX256 Corporal William Lowther Thompson, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Corporal Thompson, aged 35, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 28 May 1941. He was the son of William Lowther Thompson and Hanna Thompson, and the husband of Polly Thompson, of Leederville, WA. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 12.
