WA. Paybook photograph of WX739 Private Frederick William Symmons, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Symmons, aged 23, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 23 May 1941. He was the son of Harold William and Nellie Halden Symmons, of Northam, WA. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row D, Plot 16.
