WA. Paybook photograph of WX823 Private John Philip Utting, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Utting, aged 33, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 31 May 1941. He was the son of John Francis Crewes Utting and Ellen Utting, of Mortdale, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row D, Plot 14.
