WA. Paybook photograph of WX867 Sergeant George Edward Thomas Flanagan, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Sergeant Flanagan, aged 26, died on 22 August 1941, as a Prisoner of War (POW), after being captured defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion. He was the son of Edward Richard and Eva Evelyn Flanagan, of West Leederville, WA. He is buried in the Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany, Section 4, Row B, Plot 13.
