WA. Paybook photograph of WX932 Private Sydney Frederick Gangell, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Gangell, aged 34, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 30 May 1941. He was the son of Samuel Godfrey and Beatrice Maud Gangell, of Dowerin, WA. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row E, Plot 18.
