WA. Paybook photograph of WX1527 Captain Stanley Frederick Wood (Mentioned in Despatches), 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Captain Wood, aged 37, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 28 May 1941. He was the son of Frederich Thomas Wood and Alice Wood, and the husband of Edna Alice May Wood, of South Perth, WA. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 12.
