WA. Paybook photograph of WX1943 Gunner Richard James Maxwell, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Maxwell, aged 20, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 21 May 1941. He was the son of Harold and Ruby M Maxwell, of Manjimup, WA.
