WA. Paybook photograph of WX2014 Private Douglas Bernard Wilkins, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Wilkins, aged 21, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 22 May 1941. He was the son of Maurice Owen Wilkins and Olive May Eveline Wilkins, of Shirley, Croydon, Surrey, England. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row E, Plot 7.
