WA. Paybook photograph of WX2059 Private Reginald Charles Mayer, 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Mayer, aged 23, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 20 May 1941. He was the son of Reginald Harry and Gladys Emelie Mayer, of Beverley, WA. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row B, Plot 8.
