A shell each side
Description
Shells from the Australian ship bursting onto the Australian trenches by mistake instead of the Turkish trenches. Their aim was slightly out, which was most disconcerting for the Australian soldiers until they could get a message through to the ship. The Turkish trenches were so close that it was difficult for the ships to get the right mark. An Australian soldier at right is amongst the debris.
