Portrait of Annie Louisa Fletcher (later Hook) of Donald, Victoria, mother of VX27656 Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Robert Leslie (Bobby) Hook, J Section, 1st Corps Signals, 8th Division. L/Cpl Hook was killed in Malaya on 15 February 1942, however the family only learned unofficially of his death in 1944 via a letter written by another J Section signaller, VX30257 Segeant Ian Atkyns, to his father, a Donald newsagent. In the intervening period Mrs Hook had written letters regularly to learn of his whereabouts or fate. See also P02554.001.
