Collection relating to the service of 401205 Frederick James Dawborn, No. 1 Embarkation Depot, RAAF.
Images of Warrant Officer (WO) “Fred” Dawborn, and two fellow RAAF servicemen 401224 Flying Officer Harley Edgar Woolls Rutledge and possibly 407124 Flight Lieutenant John Alfred Manning. A series of posed images taken by a photographer from Fox Photos, London, while WO Dawborn and co were billeted at the home of Mrs Grace Nicholls in Scotland. The images picture Dawborn, Rutledge and Manning in uniform partaking in recreational and domestic activities including “arriving” at their billet, playing darts, having tea, washing up, making beds, wood chopping, feeding ducks, and riding a children’s tricycle. Some images also picture Mrs Nicholls, her husband, and children Wendy and Anthony Nicholls.
