Clothes make the man
This work is a cartoon consisting of three rows of illustrations. At the top there are two servicemen wearing tailored uniforms with forage caps who are talking animatedly to a third soldier in a similar uniform but with a peaked cap. They are watched by an Australian soldier in uniform with a slouch hat, who is leaning on a car. In the next row the Australian soldier scratches his head in confusion as one of the other soldiers walks off with a pretty woman on each arm. The women are well attired in close fitting dresses, one floral and the other with a vertical stripe. In the final section a man in a civilian suit, polka-dot tie and wearing a slouch hat is waving at a shapely woman in a fitted black dress. He is watched by a man in a car and another man who has just passed by.
