Description
Group portrait of the New Zealand rugby team based in Australian Headquaters in Rouen, France. From a collection related to the service of 442 Sergeant Andrew Arthur Anderson, 12th Battalion. Anderson enlisted in Randwick NSW, on 22 August 1914. He received a gun shot wound to the right shoulder at Gallipoli on 16 June 1915. Anderson worked in 3rd Echelon records office at Australian Headquarters located in Rouen France 1915 to 1918. He played rugby for the Australian team in Rouen against the New Zealanders. While overseas, he married a French milliner, Louise Charlotte, who returned with him to Australia.
