Group portrait of Australian rugby team in Rouen, France. Caption on verso reads 'groupe pris sur le 3eme anniversaire d'Audre, Rouen 1917'. 442 Sergeant (Sgt) Andrew Arthur Anderson, 12th Battalion, is identified in the centre back row. From a collection related to the service of Sgt Anderson. Anderson enlisted in Randwick NSW, on 22 August 1914. He received a gun shot wound to the right shoulder at Gallipoli on 16 June 1915. Anderson worked in 3rd Echelon records office at Australian Headquarters located in Rouen France 1915 to 1918. He played rugby for the Australian team in Rouen against the New Zealanders. While overseas, he married a French milliner, Louise Charlotte, who returned with him to Australia.
