Description

Three Boer snipers defend Spion Kop, a prominent feature dominating the terrain. The Commander-in-Chief Natal Army, General Sir Redvers Buller, was ordered to relieve Ladysmith which was held under siege by Boer forces. In two days of fighting at Spion Kop, 322 British troops were killed. While no Australian state unit was involved, many individual Australians served with British units that conducted the relief campaign. Several were also wounded in the battle.
