Description

A technician sits astride a five-inch gun barrel on Mount 52 onboard the Guided Missile Destroyer HMAS Hobart. Other sailors wait to assist its removal by a fitted sling. This work was undertaken by an ordnance party from the USN Repair Ship USS Jason (not shown) also berthed in Subic Bay. Mid-deployment rebarrelling was to become a common feature of RAN destroyer deployments to Vietnam.
