Informal portrait of 20126 Petty officer Victor Doyle, coxwain, from Rockdale, NSW who did excellent work in getting men away from the sinking corvette HMAS Wallaroo, following a collision with a merchant US Liberty Ship, Henry Gilbert Costin on 11 June 1943, 96 kilometres off the coast of Fremantle, Western Australia. Three crew members of HMAS Wallaroo were killed in the collision and the covette sunk four hours later with no further casualties while trying to reach Fremantle. The survivors were picked up by the Australian corvette HMAS Dubbo.
