Matthews, Albert Edward (Ted) (Lance Corporal b.1896 - d.1997)
Description
Memorial book for 180 Lance Corporal Albert Edward (Ted) Matthews, containing the signatures of people who attended his State Funeral at St Stephen's Uniting Church, Sydney, on 16 December 1997. They include the Governor-General, Sir William Deane, Cabinet Ministers, foreign dignitaries and members of the public. Also the printed order of service for the Service of Thanksgiving. Matthews, a member of 1st Division Signals (and, later, 13 Infantry Brigade), was considered to have been the last survivor of the first landings on Gallipoli on 25 April 1915.
