Description
Burma. 22 May 1945. Since the fall of Rangoon heavy RAF Liberator aircraft of the Strategic Air Force, Eastern Air Command, have been concentrating on cutting all lines of communications for the Japanese troops retreating from south eastern Burma. Railways and bridges, rolling-stock and marshalling yards have all come under fire from the heavy bombs of Strategic Air Force. This low level oblique view is from one of the RAF Liberator bomber aircraft which attacked a Japanese train fifteen miles south of Anim on the Pegu-Ye railway line. A dense black cloud of smoke is rising high into the sky, while flames are burning furiously. It is believed that this train was transporting oil to the Japanese armies.
