Banka Banka, NT. October 1941. A staging camp of the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion along the Stuart Highway between Alice Springs and Birdum, a trip which took three days. Stops were made on two nights to allow for minor repairs to be made on the 3 ton trucks (right) and soldiers to have bore water showers. (Donor J. Lane)
