Portrait of Flying Officer John P. Maguire of Albert Park, Melbourne, Vic, who has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for gallantry in the New Guinea area. He has served against the Japanese in the Far East and in New Guinea. As a wireless air observer he has participated in many sorties and strikes againt the enemy, many of which were in the face of heavy defensive anti-aircraft (AA) fire.
