Description

Over a hundred civilian members of the RAAF were on parade at Richmond, yesterday, March 31st to receive the Air Force Association Trophy for efficiency. The civilian airmen are members of No. 22 (City of Sydney) Auxiliary Squadron, which is famous for its World War II exploits in the Pacific area. The Federal President of the AFA, Air Vice Marshal W.E. Townsend made the presentation of the Trophy to the Squadron's Commanding Officer, Squadron Leader R.J. Smith. There was a large crowd of wives crowd of wives and families at Richmond to see their men on parade. The AFA Trophy is awarded annually to the most efficient of the five CAF Squadrons situated in Perth, Adelaide, Melbouren, Sydney and Brisbane. The presentation yesterday marked the third time the Squadron has won the Trophy since it was first presented to the City of Perth Squadron in 1961.
