Description
Mrs Douglas MacArthur, standing on a platform decorated with New Zealand, Australian and American flags, makes a speech after cutting the ribbon to launch HMAS Bataan, a tribal class destroyer, built by workmen in the dockyard for the RAN. The name commemorates one of the most outstanding phases of the war in the Pacific, and was decided upon as a tribute to our American Allies.
