Soputa, Papua. December 1942. The Officers' Mess, New Guinea style. Officers of the 7th Australian Division seated at a bush table during a meal in their mess in the jungle near Soputa. The table and seats are constructed of tree branches put together roughly. The Mess is without walls and a kunai-grass-covered roof.
