R93126 Leading Airman John Mathew Smeets of Belmont, WA, helps 213585 Robert James 'Buzz' Curran pack his kit onboard the troop transport HMAS Sydney. The tattoo on his right arm includes his nickname 'Buzz'.L Cpl Battalion, a member of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), would later disembark with other Army personnel on the ship's arrival at Vung Tau. He again served in Vietnam as a Sergeant with the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam from October 1970 to October 1971.
