Major Peter Bourke, Officer Commanding C Squadron, 1st Royal Australian Armoured Regiment, ...
Description
Major Peter Bourke, Officer Commanding C Squadron, 1st Royal Australian Armoured Regiment, (right) and WO2 Brian Agnew, Squadron Sergeant Major of C Squadron (left), looking down into the cargo hold of the Japanese transport ship Harima Maru, which has been loaded with 28 Centurion Mk V/1 tanks for their return voyage to Australia from South Vietnam. To fall within the lifting limits of the Harima Maru's crane, these tanks have had their 20 pounder gun barrels and rear engine decks removed. The taped gun mantlets and open engine bays are clearly visible. The gun barrels and engine decks were transported back to Australia separately aboard HMAS Sydney.
