Description

An unidentified Australian soldier busy cleaning his field stripped 7.62 mm L1A1 self-loading rifle (SLR) whilst sitting in the back of an M113A1 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) at Fire Support Base (FSB) Maree/Marie, during Operation Ivanhoe (19 September - 2 October 1971). Two other soldiers are also visible. The APC is armed with a .50 calibre M2 Browning heavy machine gun and the linked .50 calibre rounds are visible hanging down from the T50 turret (right).
