Informal portrait of Sister Alice Gordon King and Sister Janet Radcliffe, Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS), who were amongst the first twenty-five nurses to sail with the troopships in the convoy with the First Expeditionary Force. They were from the 6th Military District (6MD, Tasmania) and sailed on SS Geelong (they are seen here on the deck of the ship) with a number of the Tasmanian infantry including members of the 9th Battery, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade.
