Black crepe mess dress cummerbund.
History / Summary
Worn by James Black-Stevenson who was born in London, and educated in Scotland. He worked in India for Assam Tea Company c 1876-1890. Also served there with 'Mounted Rifles', Indian Army. Married Caroline Blakspeare in 1883. Migrated to South Australia in 1890 for sake of wife's health. Served c 1900-1902 with South Australian Scottish Company and Adelaide Rifles. Died in 1934. Survived by 3 daughters. The only son of marriage was killed in the First World War.J
