Mitchell, James (Segeant-Major b.1841 - d.1900)
Description
The collection comprises a single two-page typescript that gives a brief biography of James Mitchell, including his military service in the Tenterfield Rifle Corps, and his service in South Africa. His death, while serving with the 3rd Contingent ("Bushmen's") during the Elands River siege, is described by his Commanding Officer (who later served as "Breaker" Morant's defence counsel).
